  1. Who receives the gifts I purchase?

    The mission of the Starlight Children’s Foundation is to help seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities.  Your gift is directed towards fulfilling this mission in Canada. Our programs and services are utilized more than 200,000 times each year by seriously ill and hospitalized children and their families.  To learn more about our programs, please visit www.starlightcanada.org

  2. How can I purchase items from the Starlight Book of Smiles for the people I care about?

    We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for you to complete your shopping from the comfort of your own home. We accept Visa, Mastercard and AMEX.

  3. How do I tell people I’ve given a Starlight Gift in their name?

    We do the work for you! We’ve created a special gift card that will be personalized with the recipient’s name, your name, plus the item you’ve purchased in their honour.

  4. What choices do I have for getting Gift Cards to the people I want them for?

    You have two choices, either of which are available during the checkout process:

    1. You can send an e-card instantly.
    2. You can have our gift card sent directly to the mailing address of your choice.

  5. What happens if my card does not arrive?

    We aim to have all gift cards out within 3 business days of your order being placed, but you should allow longer due to high volumes of mail during some seasons. If it has been longer than 7 business days, please call us at 905-752-7827 and we will send you a replacement card right away.

  6. I keep trying to purchase a gift, but when I add it to my cart, I get a message to call the Foundation. Why?

    The credit card companies and our online payment gateway have set a limit of $10,000 on purchases to protect you from credit card fraud. If the piece of equipment you are trying to purchase is more than $10,000 we would be delighted to take your order over the phone or in person.

  7. I would like to purchase a piece of equipment that is not in the catalogue. Can I do that?

    If you would like to support an area of the Hospital that wasn't listed in this year’s catalogue, please call us at 905-752-7827 and we’ll be happy to talk with you about your donation.

  8. Does my money really go toward the purchase of these programs?

    Gifts made through this guide represent a gift to the Starlight Children’s Foundation. The Foundation’s urgent priorities are always changing. To support the programs to the best of our ability, the Foundation does not specifically designate donations for gifts under $1,000. We use your gifts where they can do the most good by pooling them with the gifts of others to meet the Foundation’s most urgent priorities.

  9. I would like a “hard copy” of the Book of Smiles!

    No problem! Please call us at 905-752-7827 or email us at info@starlightcanada.org to order your copy today.

  10. Can I have the tax receipt issued in the name of the person I am sending the gift to?

    All gifts purchased from this catalogue will receive an income tax receipt. In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), we can only issue the receipt in the name of the individual or organization making the donation or gift.

    No, we do not exchange in any way, shape or form donor information. We value the support of our donors and do not believe in providing this information to others.
